This image presents a photographic series of seascapes created during the 2012-2016 period. The project reflects my idea about photography universalism. My goal is that any person, who sees my picture, regardless of nationality, gets a feeling of looking at the seascape familiar since childhood. This reverent feeling of the magnetic sea view,
coming from the common to all mankind past. I want to recreate the kind of archetype, universal and close to all, akin to nostalgia or «déjà vu».
I remember the impression when I saw the sea for the first time. It happened that I had made quite a long way to the sea and then after another one step the amazing power of the immense space opened to me. The main sense of this series is to create a very personal and at the same time universal feelings of sea landscape beholding. The album title in French sounds as «Le Plat Pays». Translated, it means
«Land of the Plains». I take these words from Jacques Brel`s song. The spirit and meaning of Brel`s composition are very close to the general mood of the album and very subtly, poetically reflects the feelings with which I have created my series. Sea is the eternal theme, to which everyone always wants to come back. The most of the pictures were created in the off-season when the sea gets its own special appearance. The horizon line symbolizes both the
end point to where a person is able to come and the start of a new path. The line crossing the real image and the feeling of a dream is almost imperceptible like a scene out of the common past.
