About The Artwork

Summer 2020 between two confinements. 30 seconds is the length of time the camera shutter stays open. The sensor records what is fixed, buildings, rocks and sand, but also everything that moves. This is the time during which a pedestrian travels 30 m, a swimmer moves about ten meters, the waves break 7 times on the sand, weaving white foam.

Jacques Yvergniaux was born in 1958 in Saint-Servan (Brittany France) and currently lives in Plouër-sur-Rance (22). A self-taught photographer, he practices silver-based black and white photography for about twenty years, inspired by the great photographers Henri Cartier-Bresson, Jean-Loup Sieff, Raymond Depardon ... He takes the digital step in 2004. His photographs are essentially human-oriented. After many trips to Africa and America, he produces a first ordered major exhibition about slavery and immigration. He becomes a professional photographer in 2010. In 2018, he develops his workshop-gallery "the image reservoir" in Plouër-sur-Rance, with the participation of the French Ministry of Culture.
