ABOUT THE ARTWORK

The Ace Café. A former trucker’s diner on London’s North Circular Road at Stonebridge Park, London NW10 7UD (tube and main line train station a five-minute walk away) north west London. It has grown enormously over the years and has been extensively redeveloped into an entertainment venue centre catering to just about everybody and their wheels. Whether it be vintage, veteran or classic American hot-rod, or motorcycle. It is an historically notable venue because of the motorcycle culture that sprung up around it in the late 1950’s and all through the 1960’s. Originally the Ace Café opened in 1938 to accommodate traffic on the new North Circular Road. Although it was forced to close in 1969 due to having gone out of fashion and when other faster routes where opened to heavy traffic, thus by-passing the café. It reopened again in the early 2000’s, due to unprecedented demand for a social venue. It is now the place to be and to be seen if you are car, motorcycle or even Shanks’s Pony orientated, with a difference. There is hardly a day or a night when there’s not something going on. You would be advised to check the Ace Café website for the times and dates catering to your particular preferential set of wheels. Live bands and booze being the mainstay of late night rock & roll at weekends.

A seasoned Street Photographer. When a kindly uncle gave me one of his old manual film camera's, which I now realise was pre-war Leica, he forgot to tell me how it worked. So I had to figure it out for myself. I learned the Art of Composition the hard way with years of experience and dozens of books. These days I use a Pentax,DSLR and searching for compositions, or Pentax Investigations as I like to call them, is a wonderful pastime. I really enjoy my work, and I hope it shows.
