ABOUT THE ARTWORK
"Aphantasia's Flight" is an art photo of a dewdrop on the grass with the spiderweb, 2022. THE BACKGROUND STORY: I have no visual fantasy: if I close my eyes and try to visualize something, I will see nothing. It is called Aphantasia. My inner screen is always off. But! Somehow the "video signal" of my imagination goes to the screen of my camera! Through the macro, I can see what I feel and what I have inside when I imagine it, even if I can’t visualize it. The camera is like a prosthesis that helps me to see the imaginary world, a parallel reality that flows inside my soul. And to understand, to feel this through the images of the macro-world it was like to catch which way my inner algorithm is running, to accept it, to stop forcing myself to follow other people's way… Yes, we all are made from the same elements. But each combination of the basic elements gives a unique consciousness, that has a unique personality and experience with a unique way to perceive the world and self-express. This photo is a part of "Inner Space Dreamscapes. The world beyond Aphantasia", dedicated to fantasy and consciousness, is where an image of a drop reflects consciousness that emerges in the body and creates the abstract world of ideas, concepts, and our verbalized reality. Welcome to my dreams :) INFORMATION ABOUT THE PRINT: The photo is printed in a limited edition of 3 on Hahnemuehle fine art canvas using archival pigment inks. Chosen materials provide age resistance to fading, deep colours, and contrast of prints. The print is signed, numbered, and comes with the certificate. My work is a response to the delicate balance of life that I learned to respect growing up in the Arctic, where survival depends on the smallest signs of nature. With Aphantasia, my inability to visualize images internally, nature becomes my external mirror, reflecting my inner landscapes, coloured with emotions and sensations. This intimate dialogue with nature drives my creative process. By incorporating AI and generative digital art, I extend this exploration, blending the organic with the technological, to examine how humans fit into both natural and social systems. Ultimately, my art serves as a reminder of the fragile interconnectedness of all life. As we push forward into an increasingly technology-driven future, my work encourages viewers to pause, reconsider their place in the world, and embrace a more mindful and compassionate relationship with nature.
