About The Artwork
The artwork was inspired by a journey in the island of Santorini, in Greece. Santorini has been considered the historic event fron which Plato got the first description of the myth of Atlantis: the island was a volcano that almost 3500 years ago was destroyed by an explosive eruption, leaving a "caldera" in which at now are growing up two other volcanoes. The photographs usede in creating these images were taken from the crater of one of the new volcanoes, Nea Kameni, active and eruopting several times in last 70/80 years. In the images I would show how fragile could be a civilization when the natural environment shows its terrific power. The work is a triptique composede by a central panel of 100x100 cm and two lateral panels of 140x100 cm,
