ABOUT THE ARTWORK

BYE STORM “And once the storm is over, you won’t remember how you made it through, how you managed to survive. You won’t even be sure, whether the storm is really over. But one thing is certain. When you come out of the storm, you won’t be the same person who walked in. That’s what this storm’s all about.” ― Haruki Murakami The work was featured in Saatchi Art's Highly Collectible: Must-See New Photography Under $2000 Collection and is part of a series that was a winner in the 8th Annual International Color Awards. Title: BYE STORM N°2 Date of Work: 2014 Paper Type: Fuji Pearl (Metallic) Dimension: 50x75cm Edition: 1 of 10 Edition Size: 50x75cm Artist Proofs: # 2 A.P. Also available in large edition of 10 + 2AP (100x150cm) The work comes signed by the artist accompanied by a signed certificate of authenticity. The work is printed using a Digital Type –C process on Fujicolor Crystal Archive Digital Pearl Paper. PEARL paper contains a very special component: pearly mica crystals. Based on the natural mica, they are covered with a thin layer of metal oxides, for example, titanium dioxide. Through an interplay of transparency, refraction, coating and multiple reflections, one can discern silver-white and metallic reflection effects. These lend pictures such an intense warmth and depth; they become a true sensation for the eye. With signed limited editions from Thor Elias Engelstad, every print is documented, and is issued with a Certificate of Authenticity. Digital C-prints are photographic prints made by exposing a sheet of Type-C photographic paper (e.g., Fuji Pearl) to light inside of a digital printer instead of to light projected by an enlarger. The digital C-print is then processed in a color processor just as a traditional C-print would be. While "digital C-print" is the common term for the process, both digital and traditional (optical) C-prints are properly termed "chromogenic prints." The paper is then developed in traditional darkroom chemistry. The result is an amazing true photographic print that is unsurpassed in sharpness, color accuracy and reproduction of detail while achieving the ultimate in image fidelity, exceeding the quality of traditional darkroom prints.
