Giorgio de Chirico once said, that if you lose your memory, you lose yourself. Without a memory one becomes handicapped in being able to directly relate to any experience or image; however, if one is introduced to an image as a dream, the subject becomes more widely relatable. I thrive trying to share my interpretive visualization of our fears, inhibitions, desires, hopes and beliefs as human beings. This series is my visualization of how memory works. Throughout our lives we collect, memories based on experiences, and emotions; some good, some bad, and some that can never be freed from our cognizance. Memories pile up over time, and some start to collect dust in the outer regions of our minds, and many get lost among life’s chaos. Other memories are new and freshly placed on top of everything, sometime blurring the old forever or only allowing a faint glimpse of the past to be seen. Belonging is a culmination of the uncanny realm of a unique soul being exposed to the world. This is a vaguely seductive digitally photographed series that juxtaposes the definitions of a belonging, and the biological human need to belong and feel accepted. Nothing lasts forever. This series is a means to glorify the impermanent, and create a sense of losing oneself metaphysically while at the same time retaining a human story. Belonging. Sara Deasy
