Black Tree Circle CMYK - Limited Edition 1 of 5 Photograph

Tree Circles CMYK is an evolving series of mixed media photographs made using acrylic paints applied onto portions of individual trees to form an anamorphic circle—the circle can only be realized by the eye from one specific point in space. The final photographs of the painted tress are taken from this exact spot. Tree Circle CMYK is an original mixed media exploration of perspective, form and authenticity. This project is particularly timely in that it is a robust and physically real series of traditional 4x5 photographs being produced in an increasingly hyper-visual age of virtual realities bent by highly digitized imagery. The images in this project are emphatically non-virtual, but have been designed and executed to have the appearance of having being digitally altered. Details in the 40x50 inch prints (Traditional C-prints) reveal the trees in the forest were in fact painted. Shot on increasingly rare, no longer available 4x5 Fuji quickload negative film.
