Blackbird in the Boudoir Photograph - Limited Edition of 1

Liz Schneider-Cohen holds a BFA from NYU Tisch School of the Arts. Trained in dance, she has an eye for capturing movements of the living form. Her passion for photography developed while photographing birds and animals in the Galapagos Islands and South Africa. She is fascinated by the uninhibited grace exhibited in the movements of both dancers and animals and is also intrigued by the psychological connection humans feel toward animals. In her first photography project entitled Unnatural Habitats Liz explores the Animal/Human connection by dressing dancers in animal costumes and asking them to "channel" the energy of that animal as they move and pose during the shoot. Subsequent projects have moved away from animal exploration to an exploration of various props: Black chiffon in her "Dreams" project and colorful cotton rope in her "Ropes" project. Liz's photography includes both studio and live performance work. She is the official performance photographer for the "Fridays at Noon" program at 92nd Street Y Harkness Dance Center.
