Yaroslav Klochkov (b. 1986) Tbilisi based visual artist, curator and theorist Yaroslav has been photographing for more than 30 years. His working principles are based on photography reflex and the refusal of internal dialog with himself while shooting. At the moment of shooting, he completely refuses to create a personal relationship with the subject, be it a close person or a piece of furniture. This detached approach allows for a documentary perception, which in turn leads to a pure representation of the relationship between the author and the subject. Yaroslav articulated and theorized this approach, calling it an «artistic documentary.» In his work, one can notice an obsession with the late 19th and early 20th-century art era, drawing inspiration from Kandinsky's Suprematism, Matisse's Fauvism, and Dufy's Cubism. Yaroslav denies the influence of chance in his art, emphasizing the factuality of reality captured in photography. An important direction of Yaroslav's creative activity is theorizing contemporary art, curating exhibitions, and educating. Yaroslav Klochkov was born in Yaroslavl. Due to political reasons, Yaroslav was forced to leave his home country. Since 2022, he has worked in Turkey, Kazakhstan, and Europe.
