I am a German-Indonesian world traveler. White Lies and .Noire Truths is my motto, because I depict the world as more alluring and more appalling than it actually is, as I wander between dreams and nightmares and explore their depths. It is more intriguing to portrait things as prettier and uglier than they actually are, not to be dramatic, but to spread hope or criticism. It is human nature to forget the ordinary. The moments have to be better or worse so they‘ll be etched within our memories and for an instant, we are infinite. Photography is everything, yet at the same time it's nothing. It is an outlet, a form of expressing myself, it's channelling creative energy, it‘s my attempt at communicating with this world. But at the same time the medium is always dead, because the moments caught are delicate glances, forever frozen, a second in time taken to epitomize things that are too great for a single photo to represent. Hence,I grow melancholic when I see photos: the moment is long gone and will never return. The sun will never shine like it did on that day and the sand I walk on now is no longer the same than that which I had tread on when I was a child, even if the beach still carries the same name. I do exaggerate the beauty or the crudeness of the subject, but only to make a point, to accentuate their nature, so they will be seen. I know the world isn't as easily categorized into black or white and good or evil, as we are made out of the sums of our many parts. It's true that we might shift towards one side and that our actions reflect one side better than others, but since photography freezes a moment I choose to showcase one side for that split second. Whether it adequately summarizes the world is another question, but then again I never sought out to define things. It's just my point of view. And just my opinion in that specific moment, as mythoughts change as I change. To quote Lewis Caroll: 'I can't go back to yesterday because I was a different person then.'
