Canopies of bougainvillea and magnolia trees intertwine on this leafy neighborhood street—part of the Infrared Dreams collection by Tommy Lei. ‘Infrared Dreams’ is a tribute to the hidden essence of Mother Nature, drawing inspiration from the brevity of Wang Wei's poems. Wei’s poetry evokes what appears in my vivid dreams. In my deep slumber, I awake and arrive in surrealist spaces. Whether it’s free falling from a waterfall or looking down from the precipice of bluffs high above, this collection of infrared photographs depicts these dreamlike environments. It’s my way of reinterpreting where I am in those dreams in the everyday natural surroundings we find ourselves in. From Sonoma Coast, California to the oceanside of Ahus, Sweden, I want to elevate and capture the true colors of nature.

Tommy Lei (b. 1988) is an award-winning intuitive fine art and commercial photographer who creates beauty in the chaos. Coming from Hong Kong to California as an immigrant, he has a special talent for blending beauty, identity, and storytelling through his astute sense of perspective and composition. As a fine artist, Tommy is particularly drawn to peaceful compositions. He sees them as a form of meditation, capturing the fluidity of time and reminding us to appreciate the present. His photography transports you to a place of calm, harmony, and balance, evoking a sense of new beginnings. Tommy's fine artworks are collected worldwide, including in United Kingdom, Italy, France, and South Korea. A majority of his collectors are women who occupy high-power positions across non-profit organizations, media, technology, and literature — most notably, Celeste Ng, who authored Little Fires Everywhere — a riveting novel turned hit Hulu television show. With a multitude of fine art exhibitions under his belt, Tommy's body of work has been recognized and lauded by Aesthetica Art Prize, Neutral Density Awards as well as Fine Art Photo Awards. A Cornell University alumnus in the social sciences and humanities, he is currently a proud member of the Pasadena Society of Artists and a photographer ambassador for Canson Infinity.
