Part of Richard Heeps Ordinary Places Series, capturing Britain on the brink of change. It was Richard's first colour series and it achieved much success with an exhibition at the Photographers Gallery in 1989 which then went on to tour Museums and Public Galleries around Britain. More recently Ordinary Places, formed part of Richard's 30 year Retrospective at The International Photography & Moving Image Art Fair in Milan in 2016.
This interiors photograph 'Chair', was taken in a Saltworks Factory which was a big trade in the region. There is something about the structure of this photograph, the minimalist emptiness and the hues of the colours which is seductive.

This artwork is a limited edition of 25, gloss photographic print, dry-mounted to aluminium, presented in a museum board white window mount and framed in a choice of black or white box frame.

Although I was brought up in East Anglia, I was heavily influenced by America, I visited American bases, I kept magazine cuttings and I followed drag racing. The speed, lifestyle and technicolour is reflected in my imagery. Colour is a major aspect to my work, it drives my equipment and material choices. I have made many bodies of work, while there are distinctions between them they are all linked somehow. I have exhibited widely, in the early part of my career following an exhibition at the Photographers Gallery in 1989, many of my exhibitions toured Museums and Galleries around England. From 2007 presentation of my work has mostly been at Art Fairs in the UK and worldwide where it has been brought by many international collectors. My piece 'Thrills' was part of the 2018 250th Royal Academy Summer Exhibition.
