Art Description

Photography: Color, C-type, Digital on Paper.

This is a study, in 42 images, of two cylinders of ancient granite. Though taken from the same geological core sample, and thus having the same origin in Northern Austria, each has its own unique character. This fascinating study of the interrelationship of these two stones ranges from tranquil to dynamic, like two lovers in the never-ending flux of their intimacy, seeming almost like a dance, a dance where at one stage a graceful new life erupts, in the form of a single, beautiful blade of grass. More life is surely yet to come, with granite as the foundation, the timeless core of the Earth itself. This large, striking composition would make a talking point in any well-designed, modern interior.

For the first time, this image is being offered for sale to collectors and lovers of beautiful photographs as a limited edition fine-art print of 1/6.

Theses images were taken with a digital camera using no illumination other than daylight - as the sky changed, the colour quality changed too and this is deliberately used to indicate the passage of time. Under the supervision of the photographer, this image is being printed by London fine art printers, Bayeux Ltd, deploying C-Print digital technology and using a rather special Fujicolour Crystal Archive Glossy paper. The prints have extraordinary colour density, with good contrast, and hold even the finest detail with exceptional image stability. Each image is printed on an oversized sheet with white borders. It can be mounted like any other silver halide stock and can be laminated, block mounted or displayed behind glass, ideally using non-reflecting, gallery glass.

Numbered limited edition; signed, dated and titled on the back.
