Nick Compton is a self taught, South African born photographer who lives and works in London. Compton travelled extensively throughout his 20 year career as a professional cricketer. In this time he turned to photography as a means to release some of the pressures inherent in playing sport at such a high level. Through his lens, Compton captures culture and people with an almost seductive abandon. Part social documentary, part photo journalist, part meditation on the landscape in front of him, there is a freedom that runs across this emerging photographer’s compositions; a wanderer looking for new stories and new perspectives; a man in search of something bigger than himself.
