Walking from Buckingham Palace to Trafalgar Square on a hot day, I suddenly noticed how the sun played on the trunks of these trees - I think they call them London Plane trees. The subtlety of the colours immediately took my eye. I think this picture would make the perfect addition to a room decorated in the Minimalist style, and in rooms decorated with the very modern range of greys, navy blue or rust. Perfect over a sofa, or in a quiet corner. The picture gives the mind space to wander and wonder. Framed and matted I would see the picture measuring about 24 inches by 24 inches.

I am a full-time artist mainly painting in oils and acrylics. Previously I worked for many years as a journalist and a photo-journalist. In the later years of my career in journalism my field of expertise was in politics, from municipal politics through regional to coverage of the Ontario Legislature. Other areas I specialized in were health, the environment and travel. I was also a newspaper photographer, and later worked on the books "A Day in the Life of Canada" and "A Day in the Life of Japan", serving as associate director of photography and assignment editor.
