About The Artwork

Domestic Work: Lights & Shadows is a collection of photographs from my on going photo series. As the name implies, Lights signify the positivities in any given occurence/event while Shadows depict the negative counterpart. Estimates suggests that there are at least 64.5 million domestic workers worldwide, over 15% of them are children. Whilst many employers respect domestic workers, sadly others force them to work long hours, lock them in homes, and show only violence. -walkfree.org This series is a voyage to bring to limelight the various ways in which domestic workers are treated by various individuals or homes as the case maybe. It is versely becoming a contemporary issue when it comes to the degree of ill-treatment on this workers by individuals who are supposed to be a guide or a brace to some of these workers who are either economically or naturally deprived of some of the basic life necessities. Irrespective of the fact that a good number of these domestic workers are mistreated, some of them are still properly braced by a few employers.

I am a Nigerian self taught Photographer. I got my first degree in Geophysics, 2007 at Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Edo State. In 2009, I was awarded a scholarship to acquire a Certificate in Creative New Media at the School of Media and Communication, Pan African University, now, Pan Atlantic University, Lagos, Nigeria. A scholarship programme termed ‘Samsung Real Dreams’. It was sponsored by Samsung Electronics and International Youth Foundation (IYF). Thereafter, I became a freelance Photographer and Graphic Artist. In 2012, I got a job as a Marketer in a Cosmetic Company NNFEMS Industries. Little did I know that my quest for job satisfaction and happiness lies in nothing but my Passion. In February 2013, I resigned from my Marketing job to answer the yelling voice of Passion. In 2013, I attended the LAGOS PHOTO SUMMER SCHOOL organized by African Artist Foundation, Lagos.
