- All limited editions are signed/numbered and printed with a white border on Hahnemuhle fine art paper using archival pigment inks. There is nothing in the world like a traditional barbershop. Just thinking of their smells and sounds are enough to elicit feelings of childhood nostalgia. Barbershops are a staple in every community that grew around them. A place to meet and laugh with friends. A safe haven. A beautiful piece of American culture. Beautiful as they are though, traditional barbershops are disappearing. This fact saddens me, so in 2012 I began photographing old shops around San Diego. Time went on and my love for the project grew, as did the travels. The farther I went away from the cities, the more satisfied with the results I became. Eventually it was obvious that the project wouldn’t be complete until I visited and documented barbershops in all 50 states. After 8+ years and 200,000+ miles on the road with my dog Mojo, that’s what happened.
