Early 1930s Cypriot Groom - Limited Edition of 1 Photograph

Early 1930s Cypriot Groom posing on his wedding day. After 50 years of abandonment, these glass plate negatives are stuck together in such a manner that any other intervention will destroy them completely. The natural deterioration of these glass plates' negatives, and the random blending of them together by combining two, or three images, which have nothing to do with each other, offer a new balance, referring to the meaning given to their new existence as a single image. The patterns that were generated by the forced entrance of humidity into the image offer the composition a one-of-a-kind natural element. The pictures dated as of the early beginning of the 20th century have all the visual art aesthetics and components of contemporary artworks. The scanning methods used to enlarge these images and the digital manipulation that takes place turn the neglected pictures of the past into Fine Art valuable items today. The sizes these images are offered to buyers add value to them because they eliminate any questions that may confuse viewers that feel the need to recognize the depicted characters. It also brings to their attention the shapes and details of the natural patterns that surround the images. The artwork is only printed once and hand-signed with acrylic paint. All artworks of this series are delivered with a letter of authenticity to my clients. The artworks have the privilege to be the first of their kind worldwide and have been generated from neglected Glass Plate Negatives starting from the early 20th century.
