Earthshine - Limited Edition of 3 Photograph

I am interested in the innumerable ways in which we perceive ordinary objects, natural phenomena, and geological environments. The approach I take often combines the research of science, cultural heritage, architecture, and psychology in hope of engaging in a shifting relation of meaning and thinking. I commonly extract viewpoints, materials, and artefacts from specific sites and geographical locations. Extraction is more of a searching process, where I adopt a methodology that is often left to chance, relying heavily on my intuition and improvisational acts of enquiry. The majority of my work expands from walking, and permits a space where topographies commonly emerge, whether that is through the collection of photographs or found objects. I adopt a minimal approach with an understated tenor, stripping back objects and images to destabilise pre-constructed meaning. Found objects, images, and fragmented materials are reconstructed and placed into new contexts where their relations shift, and their meanings can be negotiated. Often drawing on the real and the imagined with a poetic juncture. Photography is used simultaneously with walking. I value its significance for documentary purposes as much as its ability to communicate emotion, intimacy, ambiguity, and as a tool for research. By playing with the uncertainty of perception, space can be made for new understandings, ignition of emotional response, and the ability to regain a sense of our position in the world, from the personal to the collective.
