Ships in a Tube
Every year, one week after the Orthodox Easter, Roma communities throughout Southern Romania commemorate their deceased. Early in the morning, families go to the cemetery and prepare festive meals and sharing food with friends, relatives and the needy. The old tradition is based on the belief in a certain form of communion across the generations of the same family. The souls of those who passed away are said to enjoy the company of their descendants – and some of the little pleasures of this world.
