Art Description

Photography: Cyanotype, Contact Print, Photogram, Collage on Paper.

Framed original, mixed media cyanotype.
Hand-brush coated.
Hand finished with a deckled edge.
Handprinted on handmade ivory recycled cotton rag paper.

This artwork is inspired by literary genius Sylvia Plath and her Bee Sequence poems found in 'Ariel,' she considered this to be her best work.

Enduring Winter (Ode To Sylvia) was created by photographing a hand-cut collage of fashion portraiture and photograms of pressed linaria blossoms and bees. The digital negative was then contact printed onto hand made paper that had been brush coated with chemicals, before drying in a dark room. Once exposed to light, the piece was washed to develop a cyan blue colour and pressed dry.

Dimensions -
390mm x 640mm (Unframed)
440mm x 715mm (framed)

Paper - Handprinted on handmade ivory recycled cotton rag paper: 320gsm / 100% Cotton Rag / Recycled / Acid Free / PH Neutral / Rough

Mount - It is recommended to keep this piece float mounted when framing.

Framing - This artwork is sold framed.

Float mounted in a deep, white box frame. 40mm border, White W4 frame, white spacers and anti reflective uv protected museum glass.

This is taken from a series of cyanotypes based on females in history and mythology. Ones who particularly inspire me, deserve to be recognised and celebrated as powerful figures in time.

I want to visually tell a story with each piece to celebrate the lives of these amazing women using portraiture, symbolism and surrealism.

I expose all my pieces in natural light for up to a couple of weeks. Printing in all weather conditions, doing everything by eye and in the most organic way possible, this enable me to be at one with each piece I create.
