VIEW IN MY ROOM
Returning to Baghdad in 2013 after a quarter of century absence, I took a series of photographs which later became the subject of exhibits around the US and a published title "Return to Baghdad: Photographic Impressions of an Expatriate." 2014. The photo was taken in the heart of old Baghdad, near Souk Al-Saray and the famed Mutanabbi Street. It depicts an internally displaced person (IDP) with his suitcase held atop his shoulder hurrying along muddied streets towards an unknown destination. The shot was unrehearsed and serendipitous. I chose canvas as a medium and processed the print to resemble a painting to go with a series I titled "Return". Signed 16'x20" w/o 18'x22" Framed
