Eternal Stones #2 This photo is part of a Limited Edition collection titled "Eternal Stones". The collection consists of a series of photographic compositions depicting ancient stones, rocks and old marble walls, all of which I photographed along the Via Sacra, inside the Roman Forum. During my editing process, I isolated these stones from their surroundings and recomposed them in minimal, sometimes abstract ways. Combined with photos of marble walls that I photographed inside the temple of Romulus, I created these compositions of rocks and stones with the aim to evoke the minimal beauty and significant historic moments they stand for. Although weathered by time, these ancient stones remain an eternal symbol of power of a monumental past. +++ Available Limited Edition Prints: 120 x 60 cm Limited edition of 25 140 x 70 cm Limited edition of 14 160 x 80 cm Limited edition of 7 +++ Each print is numbered and signed and comes with a certificate of authenticity. As a photographer, Despina Zaimis is looking to reframe the familiar and to give new meaning to the subject she is photographing through her creative process. Especially when traveling, inspiration will come from the excitement of discovering a new place that will trigger an idea and lead to a new series of photos. While taking photos makes her feel connected to the world, editing her images becomes a process of connecting to her inner self. She is drawn into post-processing her images by experimenting with different editing styles, colours, textures and tones, depending on the theme she has chosen to work on. Fascinated by the way the process of editing can intensify and transform her photos into completely new images, her aim is to evoke the beauty, vibrance and mystery of life, as she sees and perceives it through her creative process. +++ Her studies in art and graphic design and her life in different parts of the world gradually lead her path towards photography. Living in Japan for a few years was the experience that triggered her love for this art form and inspired her to start capturing the places and people she came across. Her images at times become more abstract and minimalistic, while at other times, they are full of colour and vibrancy, depending on the theme she is working on and the final image she has envisioned to create. +++ Her photos are produced and sold in numbered limited edition prints on the highest quality archival papers with the use of the latest printing technology. Every artwork is signed and numbered and comes with a certificate of authenticity. +++ Despina Masouridi Zaimis was born and raised in Greece. She has lived in London, Madrid, Washington DC, Tokyo and currently lives in Brussels.
