United Arab Emirates
Mohammed Ali Abdulla Mohammed Al Marzooqi was born in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates on December 30 1978. Mohammed is a prominent Arabic surrealist designer best known for the striking and bizarre images in his work. His design skills are often attributed to the influence of Salvador Dali. He utilises an eclectic mix of reality and the surreal in most of his recent works that have gained him both local and international acclaim. He won his first prize for art at school when he was just 14. In 2011, Mohammed was awarded the prestigious Dubai Art Centre Surreal Art Award by Dubai Culture and Arts Authority sponsored by HH Sheikh Majid Bin Mohmmed Al Maktoum. Later in 2011, he participated in Dubai Culture Art Authority outdoor project with the longest panoramic image displayed in Business Bay next to The Burj Khalifa. This was sponsored by Business bay and Dubai Culture and Art Authority. In 2012 Radio Voice of Russia described him after an interview as a genius of our time in the eyes of the youth of Russia and the Arab world. Mohammed has been ranked 12 out of 30,000 immerging professional artists around the world and he is the only UAE National to receive an Emergent Artist Award and international recognition for the quality of his images and his unique graphic style. In 2012 Mohammed participated in the Gallery 76 Group Exhibition during the ART Dubai fair at the Dubai International Art Centre. His entry was centred on surrealism in the 21st century. Early in 2013 Mohammed was accepted SIKKA to create a movie using the theme of local super hero, which gave him his first serious break in surreal movie making in the presence of HH Sheikh Majid Bin Mohammed Al Maktoum. His super hero The UAE Soldier became an instant hit!
