The Monarch, however, is in grave danger of becoming extinct. Western monarchs have declined by more than 99 percent since the 1980s. Eastern monarchs have declined by an estimated 80 percent. One way we can help to save the Monarch is by planting more Milkweed, for them to lay their eggs and for caterpillars to eat, and other nectar flowers for fuel to make their long journey. We have to learn to protect our environments, one step at a time.
