About The Artwork
Forever Flowers No.2 is a photograph developed in Cyanotype method from 1842. This method was primarily used to produce copies of drawings or blueprints. This process is done by coating watercolor paper with iron salts to make the paper light sensitive thereby allowing me to develop a negative into a positive image with the use of the sun. When I wash the paper, it turns a beautiful Cyan Blue as it's known. I took this photo at a cemetery in Colma Ca, looking for inspiration from the centuries old statues and came across these carved marble flowers that will live on for eternity . I'm starting the second act of my life through the lens of my camera and an interest in the alternative photography processes from cyanotype, a historic process from 1842 where photography is developed in a cyan blue tone, digital intentional camera movement, where photographs look like abstract paintings, glitch, deconstructing photography, and digital manipulation of my work adding unique color hues giving an other worldly look to landscapes. I have a photography love of botanical, landscapes and items with lots of contrast and imperfections which makes for beautiful photographs. I love that after raising my two daughters, being known as mom, employee, wife, and care giver, that I am now a photographer and an artist.
