My wife and I were on our way home from a road trip. We passed this old farmstead and both realized it would make a great photo at the right time of day. One brisk fall morning, we drove back out there just before sunrise. As the sun came up we got the results we envisioned when we first saw it.

My experience with photography started in the San Joaquin Valley of central California. One Saturday morning I saw an ice sickle formed on a dripping hose. I grabbed my mom's 35mm camera and took a photo. Mom didn't know I had taken a photo. It was weeks before she finished the roll and developed the film. I still remember her surprise when she saw the image. It was a great photo! That photo sparked a creative motivation that brings me joy every day. After continuing to take artistic photos for many years, I sold my first professional photo to an advertising agency in 1985. Studio lighting became an intense study for me when my children were growing up. I had lots of fun expressing my creativity, but I don't think my children liked it so much.
