VIEW IN MY ROOM
Lyudmil Yanakiev, photography I was born in a small port town situated on the Danube river, its lower course. People here live in three centuries simultaneously and they call their own world… the Zone. They strongly resemble those strange people and places from Tarkovsky’s films. It is a peculiar area on the Balkans. A crossroads of wars, pilgrims, ideologies and “odd” people in their own manner. They have all left behind material culture and customs, eclecticism of beliefs and it has all survived throughout these three centuries. I do not travel far away to discover something unexpected. Over the time my personal photographic journals have acquired diverse layers. The longer I work over the same material, the more authentic the discoveries of the inner world become. This ofcourse changes me and it transforms my lifestyle as well. Photography turns into the pictorial “conversation” for yourself and for the world. I prefer this sensation. I pursue this secret power, which keeps the soul hidden from the important messages of the “accidental reports of the eye”. This way I resist without the things that are mostly liked, at least for some time... I use the classical silver photographic technology and digital modification of old processes. Digital post-production. Archival Pigment Print. Hahnemühle paper, PhotoRag Barita 315 gcm. Certificate of Authenticity and Signature of the Author verso. White field 3 cm outside the size.
