Dutch photographer Marie Cecile Thijs (1964) specializes in portraiture. In her photographs she strives for intensity and stillness. She mingles contemporary style with classical aesthetics. Marie Cecile Thijs initially had a career as a lawyer, but more than twenty years ago she rediscovered her earlier love for the camera, and decided to become a photographer. Since then, she has achieved recognition for her photoseries 'Human Angels', 'Legal Practitioners', 'White Collar', 'Cooks' and her still life series Food Portraits. She is also known for her portraits of many politicians, artists and writers. Her photography is regularly published and acquired by art collectors and corporations, like Generali and Allianz, and she exhibits frequently in Amsterdam and throughout Europe, and recently in the USA. Works"˜Girl with White Collar at table' and "Cat with White Collar' are included in the collection of the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam.
