Guardians of the Path is a meticulously crafted black and white photograph that captures a striking moment of stillness and connection in nature. A young boy, clad in a hoodie and camouflage pants, stands firmly between two loyal dogs, his quiet guardians. The scene, set against a soft and misty natural backdrop, reflects a deep bond between the boy and his companions, underscored by a profound sense of companionship and trust. The rugged terrain and muted landscape bring out the resilience and purity of their relationship, creating an emotional connection with the viewer. This photograph was shot using an 8x10” large format camera on Ilford FP4 film, a choice renowned for its fine grain, broad tonal range, and rich detail. The expansive frame allows for a detailed examination of every texture, from the boy’s clothing and the dogs’ fur to the rocky ground beneath their feet. The image transcends simple portraiture, exploring themes of loyalty, youth, and the quiet resilience found in rural settings. The archival inkjet print is meticulously printed on Hahnemühle Photo Rag Baryta 315gsm paper, providing an exquisite texture and depth, perfectly suited to the photograph’s delicate contrast and rich grayscale. The print, with its size of 176x142 cm, includes white borders, offering a refined presentation for gallery or private display. Each piece is produced in a strictly limited edition of 12, ensuring its exclusivity. On the reverse side, the print is hand-signed by the artist, stamped with an artist’s seal, and numbered individually to authenticate the limited edition. This work stands at the crossroads of documentary and fine art photography, offering a timeless and contemplative look into the beauty of companionship, the quiet moments of youth, and the solace found in nature.

Once I was asked: “What is the truth?”. I did not understand the question. What is art? Through our lives we, in one form or another, are trying to discover the meaning of our existence, to satisfy our curiosity and achieve satisfaction through such achievement. It is one's inevitable limitations and inhibitions which frustrate such efforts but which also frequently drive people with artistic spirits to create outside their comfort zone and in some extreme cases leads even to their destruction. I would like to see my art as an unrestricted journey of self-discovery and exploration in search of elusive answers to those and other questions which are often more difficult to understand than to answer. I remember once, my emotional, and admittedly elaborative art expose about my paintings, was abruptly interrupted by a friend, and an artist, saying: “You should not explain the art. The true art speaks for itself”. Forget prolonged explanations. Art is an expression in itself. Just as much as reality is just merely our perception. Is it not?
