Harmony, a diptych - Limited Edition of 5 Photograph

After a career as a film and television producer in New York Roberta London moved to Florida where, inspired by the natural beauty of her new environment, she made the transition to still photography. The landscape, with its flowers colors shapes and stunning light, had captivated her. Roberta views herself as a “through-the-lens explorer and composer” working most often in the field in natural light to capture the smallest details of flowers and the remarkable breadth and complexity of the landscape. “Most of us,” she observes, “come in contact with the natural world on a daily basis, whether in a park, along a roadside or at the edge of a pond. We can be in the midst of a veritable botanical garden and still miss seeing the exceptional details in a single bloom or the designs in the bark of a tree.” Roberta London recognizes that landscape and floral images are not only among those most favored by art collectors and interior designers, they also play a powerful role in the healing process for patients in hospitals. “Having works of art to look at and contemplate– especially scenes that capture the beauty of the natural world – provides a connection to the world outside one’s window or hospital room.” Through The Foundation For Photo Art in Hospitals, Roberta’s work has been placed in St. Luke’s Hospital in St. Louis Missouri, CURE International Hospital in Kabul Afghanistan, Regional Hospital in Thies Senegal, Evagorian Palliative Care Center in Limassol Cypress, and Hospital Papa Giovanni in Bergamo Italy. Roberta’s floral photographs celebrate the brilliance of Nature’s artistry and open windows through which to see its astonishing beauty and be soothed by that connection to our natural world. “My desire to capture and preserve those often ephemeral details and designs in Nature,” she says, “provides the spark plug and compass for my work.”
