In this series, the word heir is used as a play on words. First it is representative of a royal bloodline and second, as a play on words depictive of each girls traditional African/natural hair style.
Meaningfully placed, you will find a bluebird shown in a few of the portraits from this series. The bluebird is symbolic of our ancestors. When a Bluebird appears, she may be bringing signs of loved ones from heaven above.
