About The Artwork

Macro Photography printed on William Turner Hahnemühle paper using an Epson SC P800 (9 UltraChrome HD pigment inks*). *According to comprehensive tests conducted by Wilhelm Imaging Research, Inc. (WIR), the world’s leading independent permanence testing laboratory. While accelerated display permanence tests are still underway, the data accumulated to date indicates that UltraChrome HD pigment inks can provide up to twice the WIR Display Permanence Ratings of previous generations of Epson UltraChrome inks with most Epson photo and fine art papers. In addition, preliminary data from ongoing tests indicate that, depending on the specific paper, WIR Display Permanence Ratings for black and white prints made with UltraChrome HD inks using Epson’s “Advanced Black and White Print Mode” will likely exceed 400 years. WIR’s multi-factor print permanence test procedures, which go far beyond just the effects of accelerated light exposure, evaluate all of the display and storage factors that can affect the life of a print over time. Prints made on Epson fine art photo papers and canvas with the new UltraChrome HD pigment inks are also expected to have WIR Album and Dark Storage Permanence Ratings well in excess of 200 years; the prints exhibit high resistance to atmospheric ozone; have very good water-resistance properties; and, the pigment images are extremely resistant to damage caused by storage or display in high-humidity environments. Graciela Socorro was born in Ames, Iowa. She is an American-Venezuelan artist based in Houston, Texas. She is a multidisciplinary artist who explores mixed media and photography. B.S.Mechanical Engineering following her love for aerospace engineering, soon she began exploring photography on her spare time with her boyfriend, now husband Carlos Ocando. For Graciela, this moments are magical, where truly lives the now. An eternal meditation where only matters she and the subject. This inspiration aroused her interest in conducting various studies, exploring on varieties of subject such as nature, portraits, macro photography, geometric arrays, color and black and white images... She is a very open-minded artist. Suddenly it became an everlasting encounter founding her muse in nature. From the beginning she has received guidance and support from Fine Art Photographers Albert Frangiéh and Carlos Ocando giving her the tools of editing and attention to details, among others. This encouraged her to continue her studies with geometry in nature. In 2011, Graciela made her first photography portfolio "Entre sol y Palmeras" (Spanish for "Between Sun & Palms), followed by "Into me I See". Both projects were made of palms trees where she played with their lines and colors, shadows and light creating geometric patterns using more than one image. She received International recognition from both series. She is still working on a new body of work that will be soon available on her website. In 2012, she decided to express her joy for color and geometry on a new project called Bindu - Sanskrit for dot or point - which is the main shape of the work. The circle represents unity, wholeness, infinity and all colors combined is a celebration of joy and life together. The work is made out of layers of acrylic paint on different medium: hand-made air- dry clay sculptures, panel and reclaim objects. When the piece is ready, Graciela applies a layer of non-toxic, UV protection resin to obtain a glossy look and protect the paint and clay objects. Now she lives in Houston, TX with her husband the Fine Art Photographer Carlos Ocando.
