ABOUT THE ARTWORK

I often drove past this diner, and every so often I'd take my daughter there for pancakes at the weekend. I always wanted to photograph it but as a 24/7 old fashioned diner, there were always cars parked at the front obstructing the view. On July 4th, 2015 I was driving past after an Independence Day lunch and the diner was shut for the first time ever to my knowledge, so I grabbed my camera gear from the back of the truck and shot about 20 frames in the next half hour. I was grappling with the sun being in the wrong position, but a couple of exposures worked well and with some careful reouching and editing this was the result. Limited edition pigment print with Epson fine art inks and Hahnemühle Photorag 308gsm fine art paper.

Biography: Adam Regan began his career as a photographers assistant, but was lured into the advertising world with the promise of being able to afford to eat. He then spent over 20 years working as an art director and creative director for advertising agencies around the world. Throughout this period Adam worked with some of the best photographers in the world, testing their patience with incessant questions and continually invading their personal space, so he could get a close look at how they worked. In 2008 he began shooting for himself, whilst also art directing on a freelance basis. His work was swiftly awarded and recognised by various festivals including IPA, PX3, The Photography Masters and PDN. He’s more recently been awarded by Communication Arts and American Photographic Artists. 'I've always tried to live within easy reach of a sea or ocean. There is something about walking on a beach - the sand beneath my feet that I find restorative and inspiring. It's the ocean and the coastline that informs most of my work.'
