First work of my new project, still concerning maps, my obsession. I take in consideration one person, in this case the author Francis Scott Fitzgerald, and focus on the places that have been important in his life, his formation, and his career. I select, together with a book from or about the author, the maps or traveling material that I find in my home that can describe these places (being obsessed, I have a considerable collection). After that, I look at the image with the eyes of the person and try to remember the time when I was there, the many choices, the bad times, the good times that I had there. As you can see, I put the places where FSF was born, St.Paul Minnesota, where he studied, Princeton NJ, the place of his wife, Zelda, Alabama, and so on. For Long Island, the place of the Great Gatsby, I have put a timetable from the Long Island Railroad. I let you discover the meaning of the other maps in the image. In a certain way, in just one image you can see the whole life of one person, and you can ask yourself: has he lived a happy life? This is only the first photo of the new project. I am now working at the next, and very excited about that. Signed and numbered in the back of the image. Comes with a certificate of authenticity.

My latest endeavour: I paint on maps. First I put on them several layers of varnish, to make them heavy, textured, then I paint a text that comes in my mind, regarding the experience of human kind on that particular piece of earth. Through my maps I want to study the relationship between the names of people, facts, memories (both individual and collective) and the land and its representation. In response to every word, every symbol we perceive, the impressions we each have vary. And, most of all, I want to express my unconditional love for the United States of America. Every map is a unique work, on which I have spent many hours, both for the varnish and for the paint. In these hours I have concentrated myself on the territory and I was in touch with the people described by the map itself.
