About The Artwork

Pigment ink on cotton rag, mounted on cradled wood panel. The sides of the panel are painted white, leaving just a hint of the wood grain to show through. The front of the work is sprayed with archival museum quality UV protective spray, but care should be taken to avoid touching the face. Printing and mounting done myself! I created the Imagination Series to push the limits of my own creativity. The central theme is the process of creating. I start by photographing the building blocks - pieces of driftwood and naturally fallen antlers. Next, I allow my imagination to play freely and create objects without the pre-determined boundaries of a final creation. I use my intuition to guide the work towards a final creation, and then fine tune the digital collage to complete each piece. The resulting series showcases my inner inspiration - living creatures, the beauty of nature, and the practice of mindful observation.

Radina Droumeva is a conceptual photography-based artist living and creating in the small community of Ladner, BC, Canada. She finds endless inspiration in the peace and solitude of her natural surroundings. Radina's work explores physical and psychological relationships in her environment through surrealism of still life objects. Her scientific background as a bioinformatician allows Radina to combine biological and mathematical research techniques with digital processing. Radina's main approach to creating involves the use of iterative stages - photographs of individual objects or scenery are guided through a cyclical process, coaxing subconscious ideas to life.
