About The Artwork

Indian Girl, 1975 I was at a cultural festival in Echo Park, California, where I lived in the summer of 1975. There were various events going one Sunday afternoon, with Asian cultural festivities of dancing and singing at the park across from where I lived. I was walking through the area where a groups of child dancers had just finished their dance. A young girl caught my attention as she sat near the front opening of the tent. Her eyes were so intense, I focused on them with a 50mm lens on my Nikon F. I shot off a few frames of her and the other dancers. When I developed and printed the film I was amazed at the intensity of her eyes. My father entered her photo in a local photo contest and it won first prize, which was a Pentax Spotmatic 35mm camera. Even still, 44 years later, this photo is one of my favorites. (Over the years there is some damage to the film from living in Asia, such as scratches, that are not so noticeable). Image size: 11.36 W x 13.5 H Print size: 16 x 20 Printed on Ilford Gold Fiber Silk paper 310 gram, 100 % cotton rag.

Shipping & Returns

Delivery Time:Typically 5-7 business days for domestic shipments, 10-14 business days for international shipments.

I grew up with photography as my father worked as a reporter/photographer in the late 1940s to the early 1950s, before he became involved in the aerospace industry. Through him I became fascinated with the magic of photography. I began to take photo classes in college and later attended Art Center College of Design, graduating in 1976. I had a small studio on Sunset Blvd through the late 1980s then did a trip to Thailand and decided to move there in 1990. Over the years I have worked for Habitat for Humanity, World Vision, and done assignments for The United Nations, Newsweek, Gamma Liaison, Getty Images. Animal Planet, Homeless International and other organizations in Asia.
