This photogram I made of exposing one of my woven material ‘X-Ray Series’ to light and exploring its marks on the paper. I am fascinated by the invisible structures of objects and materials. In this body of work, 'X-Ray Film Series', I explore the idea of visible versus invisible. Challenging the darkroom technique photogram I reveal the inner structure of ordinary objects; exposed to light they transform dramatically leaving compelling marks on the photographic paper. These marks appear similar to qualities seen in X-ray films, those of the skeletal structure.

I work with sculptural weave, mixed media and photography. I explore the interaction between structure and light. Fascinated by invisible structures of objects and materials I investigate ideas based on materiality, visual change, time and human experience. I challenge the darkroom technique photogram in 'X-Ray Film' series to reveal the inner structures of ordinary objects. The imagery mimics qualities seen in hospital X-Ray films, which often translate into my sculptural weave ‘X-Ray' series. In this work I expose the otherwise invisible vertical warp structure with an innovative technique I have developed. The sculpture comes to life through a performance with sunlight; as light enters and walks across space, it gradually illuminates the material tricking the eye by making the work appear as woven glass or ice. Photographic work ‘Mundane’ re-examines single-use objects. I repurpose each object as a vessel for performance, manipulating the inner structure with sunlight and distorting our perceptions of the familiar object. This however, is a fragile existence lasting while light does. Sculptural mixed-media work 'Broken Bones' questions function and expectations, and how these manipulate and affect our lives and beliefs on a deeper personal level.
