About The Artwork

I love the Iris. I love bright beautiful happy colors. The iris is the flower I always give to potential girlfriends to show that I am different from the rest of her suitors (and romantic as well, of course). It was only natural that I combine the iris, in a way that has not been done before (continuing to make me unique) with my other passion, photography. I want you, as I do, to feel a sense of joy and freedom while you can almost see the petals coming off the paper at you. The Fine Art Print limited edition is limited to 25. You are purchasing #2. Each Fine Art Print is signed by the artist and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity. Fine Art Prints are printed on the highest quality fine art photo paper or can be ordered printed on canvas. For other printing options, please contact the artist. Other sizes of both the Fine Art Print and the paper print are available (both larger and smaller). Please ask the artist. The colors go where they want. You talk to them, you tell them the plan, you cajole, flatter and plead. You think you have come to a meeting of the minds. You apply them. And - The colors go where they want. It's best not to corral them. It's hopeless anyway. Best just to make soft suggestions and watch with childlike glee as they intermix and mingle. The colors go where they want and they know where to go. They always arrive at a sensual, vibrant, complex beauty. The colors go where they want.

Brad Rickerby might just as well have been born with a camera in his hand. The son of LIFE staff photographer Arthur Rickerby, Brad Rickerby developed a profound visual aesthetic early on and had his first publication credit in LIFE in 1966 at the age of nine.Rickerby flirted with the business world in the '80's, earned an MBA (Duke, '89) and worked on Wall Street with the Dreyfus Corporation. But inevitably he was compelled to reject the confines of the corporate world, to return to his creative roots.Rickerby's re-birth into creativity came in 1991 when he started shooting for the Brooklyn (NY) Phoenix. From there he went on to do paparazzi work for Sipa Press and eventually to news photography as a full time stringer for Reuters based out of New York City.In 1998, based on his developing Photoimpressionism and City Lights projects, Rickerby signed a contract with Tony Stone (later Stone, still later Getty).Through distributions by Getty, Reuters, Sipa and most recently Agefotostock, Rickerby's work has been published on six continents and by virtually every major publication in the world. His images have also been widely used by corporations, governments and institutions.A short list of Rickerby's clients and credits include: LIFE, Time, People, Newsweek, The New York Times, the New Yorker, Vanity Fair, Moosylvania, Random House, Goldman Sachs, Harpo Productions, OgilvyOne Worldwide, Motorola, Samsung, E! Entertainment TV, Le Figaro, AOL France, Stern, Hasbro, Forbes, Paris Match, Microsoft, Dell, the Government of the People's Republic of China, Bank of Boston, Bell South, Cingular, E-Trade, MTV, Vogue, Lonely Planet Guides, ABC Primetime, Hong Kong Times, Singapore Straight Times, Die Aktuel, The London Times, Esquire, Maxim, New York Magazine, Playboy, Playgirl, USA Today, The Washington Post, The Los Angeles Times, GQ, VH1, and on and on and on.In 2004 Rickerby added painting to his repertoire. Oil is his preferred medium, although he also paints in acrylic, watercolor and pastel. Rickerby's paintings share many similarities to his photography. They all revolve around the aesthetics of abstraction, chaos and tranquility, of color and light and motion.Color Light MovementThe colors go where they want.
