About The Artwork

This small island is called Montrone. It is located in Lake Matese, the highest karstic lake in Italy, at an altitude of 1000 m. The February air was very cold. I waited for the clouds to open a bit and the islet appeared, like a dinosaur or a dragon emerging from the misty waters of the lake. From the series "Matese". “I love the dense and silent woods of this mountain, the light of the peaks and the darkness of the ravines, the cliffs, the vast karstic plateaus and the meadows where the flocks swarm. I like the eyes, the hands and the steps that have shaped and made it special over the centuries. I like to observe the work of the peasants and shepherds, sit on the stones of the ancient Samnite and Roman settlements. In my wanderings in these mountains, I always took my camera with me. Shot after shot, I slowly drew my personal cartography of the Matese, made up of photographs”. From the introduction of my book “Matese", printed in a limited edition with individually numbered copies. Book size: 13x19 cm, 144 pages, 69 duotone and color photographs. Metallic pantone cover. I will be happy to include a complimentary copy of the book for a larger format of this photograph. You can find it among my artworks. -- This photograph is printed with a giclée process using fine art pigments on a museum grade art paper. I love Hahnemühle Photo Rag Baryta 315g and Photo Rag 308g, both premium quality acid-free cotton papers that ensure an extremely wide range of shades and details. Limited edition of 50. This artwork comes also in other sizes, listed separately. Signed below the image and on the back, and numbered. Comes with a signed Certificate-of-Authenticity. This print is only available in this limited edition. Framing on request. For framing options or to enquire about different sizes or white borders, or for any other request, feel free to contact me. www.natalinorusso.com natalino.russo@gmail.com
