About The Artwork

Kaamos or in English polar night is a period in Winter, when the sun no longer rises above the horizon in northernmost points of the Earth as in Lapland. It’s a particular period with special light and mood. My aim was to capturing the magic of the landscapes and highlight the feeling, when the sun is sleeping. Fine Art Print on museum quality alpha cellulose acid free paper, lignin-free, neutral pH - signed and numbered edition of 1/1 + 2 ap. Size of the image is 56x35,5cm, printed with ~ 4 cm margin. Delivery in a 70x50cm frame with a white passepartout.

Andi Balogh is a Hungarian photographer based in Espoo, Finland since 2009. Her main inspiration is the unique northern ambience and aesthetics. Through photography she combine nature with the human figure, depicting the world of the inner scapes. In her representation, these scapes radiate beauty and mysticism, uplift, initiate and purify, just as the sublime northern nature does. Personal experiences and feelings acquired during her journey, her own transformation and its insights are also reflected in the meaning of works. The themes are permeated by the aspects followed by the Symbolists: the approach to a transcendent state beyond ourselves. As an enthusiastic hiker Andi creates her images on location during nature trips, when the landscape, detail or atmosphere enchants. The constant travel companions are the camera, lenses, tripod, self-timer and fabrics in different colors. For capturing visions Andi utilise herself as the characters of images. Instead of making self-portraits, her purpose is to visualize the impersonal human figure as part of the unity, as well as to convey the presence and connection with nature, allegorically the inner scapes beyond the phenomena. "Nature opens the gates to the worlds of the soul. My aim is to explore these inner realms, and at the same time invite the viewers to be inspired, purified and find the way to our true selves."
