David W. Batterman is a photographer and artist, born in 1975 in Warner Robins, Georgia. He currently lives and works in Atlanta. His photographic images are rooted in the American experience, with an appreciation of the rural and bizarre. Commercially, he works with numerous organizations, galleries, and artists, including the High Museum, Dashboard, and the Atlanta Office of Cultural Affairs, to document exhibitions and performances. His images have been used by numerous media outlets, including NPR, Hyperallergic, HGTV's FrontDoor, Creative Loafing and the Atlanta Journal and Constitution. Batterman's current artistic practice in multi-media collage is primarily concerned with themes of militarism and commercialism, as well as larger issues of national and materialistic identity. His work has been shown at the Goat Farm, MINT Gallery, Nelson Street Gallery, Blue Mark Studios, and others. He has been a BURNAWAY art crush, a participant in the ARTPAPERS auction since 2014, Dashboard artist and documentarian, and a 2011/2012 visiting artist with the Marcus Autism Center. Batterman received his MAEd from Georgia State University in 2015, and studied at the Atlanta College of Art before receiving his BA from GSU in 1998. He currently is a proud Fulton County teacher, on the Visual Arts faculty at Cambridge High School, teaching traditional film photography, graphic design and drawing.
