Art Description

Photography: Color, Digital on Paper.

This is a studio photograph of a flower of the South African King Protea which is about to open - it bears the largest flowers in the genus. The intense saturation of colour and the delicacy of the stamens against a totally black background make for a quite remarkable image that will enhance any interior created with considered design.

For the first time, this image is being offered for sale to collectors as a limited edition, fine art print of 1/10.

The original photograph is one of 3 taken in 1975 using a large format Plaubel Monorail camera and 1/2 plate Kodak Ektachrome film. The transparency was recently scanned and is being printed by the photographer using Epson’s ultra-smooth, Hot Press Bright cotton rag archival 330gsm paper and utilising Epson printing technology and the associated K3 pigment inks. The prints have an extraordinary density of blacks, with superb contrast, and hold even the finest detail. Each image is printed on an A2 sheet with white borders. The surface of these prints is delicate, so we recommend that they are mounted behind glass - they look splendid in a ‘floating frame’, using non-reflecting, gallery glass.

Milan Svanderlik is a DIGI-Graphie Artist.

Each print is signed, numbered, dated, and titled on the back, and is certified on the white border with the artist’s DigiGraphie embossing stamp.
