Last light Photograph - Limited Edition of 10

The sun was setting behind me when I took this picture of the dramatically shaped cloud reflecting the bright reddish-orange light from the setting sun. The rest of the sky and the ocean in the east were dark with the beginning of nightfall. I emphasized the bright red color by using some of it in the central square and baseline treatment. It is a very simple symmetrical composition reflective of my minimalist roots. A square within a square. It does not get much more minimal than that. This scene was assembled with the utmost simplicity into a symmetrical pattern. The image is from my "Horizon" portfolio of images. The horizon line is our first measurement of the planet. It provides balance, stability, and wonderment for what might lie beyond. The horizon line becomes an essential compositional element separating the water from the sky. This is the terroir for my creative spirit as I work to interpret this place and provide a resting place for a meditative mind. I am always thankfully excited when Nature gives me such a unique palette of shapes and colors to use in my work.
