About The Artwork

AudeRrose compositions and drawings Brent Sqar cyanotype chemistry Serie of cyanotype prints, made out of images found in a photographic box belonging to my grand mother, short after her death. The post- card of actress of the 1950s, she use to admire, as well as photographies of my grand father is his early childhood or other family members. Those portraits were scanned and printed into black and white transparent, and recomposed with patent drawing of mechanisms of slide carrousel projectors. The drawings were done around 1980 to illustrate the mechanical structures of these devices. I then printed them and copied with tracing paper and a freehand technic. The portraits are printed in positive and combined with other layers of drawings, creating an hybrid collage composition between old im- agery and technical patent drawing. Once the composition chosen, the transparent copies are placed on the coated paper, covered with the light sensitive emulsion, then stabilized with glass plate and exposed to sun light. These Portraits are part of a larger serie that has been realised between 2013 and 2015, a metaphoric family reenactment that started with the loss of my grand mother. With light, the vanished presence of my ancestor become visible in a nostalgic blue, revealing their appear- ance to our vision in another form. With this ancient photographic technic, invented around 1850, the memories of the past become vis- ible and give us the fragile dimension of time present to our perception. About the cyanotype technic: Cyanotypes are done by a mixture of two salts, which are solved in some water and maybe some other substances to give an emulsion or glue. While drying this two chemical compounds form a new one, which is holded in the matrix. The special feature is, this one is slightly sensitive to light, and even more to UV. The energy of the sun rays pushes the electrons of the iron in the complex above certain levels and a transformation starts. What lefts is a colourful, pale and lighten to deep darkish blue, but still invisible and hidden under a greyish layer. With an interesting feature: its not soluble in water. The rinsing then separates the two worlds and reveals the admirable Prussian Blue.

AudeRrose is multi-disciplinary artist working with performance, photography, prints, sound and live video. She regularly presents her performances in international festivals. Her imagery plays with narrative structures, developing dreamy and intimate universes, exploring various forms of interplay between body, images in motion, deconstructive narrations and self-mythology. Her performances articulate live scenography protocols integrating video as an environment medium, often using real-time camera feedback, considering the black box as a possible oneiric space, where sounds and images communicate in a poetic and narrative journey. She has developed several successful collaborations with international acoustic and electronic musicians, sound and video programmers, producing series of audio-visual performances where she manipulates time and images in evolving structures. Her work oscillates between digital and analogue medium, combining original cross-border techniques between real-time video feedback and digital and acoustic sounds. She often uses overhead projectors, dia projectors, typewriters, clocks, that are amplified via micro-con- tact microphones, combined with acoustic and digital sounds. She uses live cameras and pre-recorded video samples, sometimes combined with programming language such as pure data, seeking to develop a closer interaction between video and sound events. Fascinated by archaic imagery and mechanical objects, she also creates costumes and scenography, seeking to immerse the audience in a dream box, using her figure as a “persona” reenacting a forgotten memories inside a poetic journey.
