Artist Recognition
Artist featured in a collection
Andreas Baier's work is perfectly and widely known for being absurd. Nevertheless, a regular consumption on a daily basis shall be part of any healthy lifestyle. Here, the artist mixed recognised items of significantly different cultures in order to create a visual cocktail designed to do both surprise and entertain his collectors at its utmost efficiency. Andreas Baier's «Living Room Lion» has been recently published by National Geographic's «Strange Terrains» story: http://yourshot.nationalgeographic.com/stories/strange-terrains/ The NG-editor explains: «This is one of the most wildly bizarre and creative interpretations of the ‹Strange Terrains› assignment. Horrifying, fascinating and pink. Great depth and framing with beautiful angles of the walls as well a clear subject with the lion.» This edition including its unbeatable price is designed by the artist to say «Thank You Very Much» to special collectors, curators and close friends. This edition is limited to 10 copies. Important: This step turns an «open edition» into a «limited edition». Germany
I like to quote Andy Warhol: «I like to be the right thing in the wrong place and the wrong thing in the right place. Being the right thing in the wrong place and the wrong thing in the right place is worth it because something interesting always happens.» Curriculum 1: At the beginning of his professional career, Andreas Baier worked as a photographer for STERN, MERIAN, GLOBO, GEO, MAX and the two supplements of the Handelsblatt and the Süddeutsche Zeitung, among others. From the 1960s to the 1980s, his parents published the magazine KUNST. At that time, it was the German-language magazine for contemporary art with the highest circulation. Curriculum 2: At the beginning of the 1990s, Andreas Baier opened his London project agency "hamster&james" and also studied "Fine Arts" at the HBK Braunschweig. His analogue flashlight paintings have been exhibited internationally, auctioned at Sotheby's and published in over 30 countries – including the Chinese "people" magazine. Please note: Unfortunatelty the numbers of characters that may be used in this profile-section are way too less in order to publish Andreas Baier's list of portfolios/monographs up to 2018 in full.
