Art Description

Photography: Black & White, Digital on Paper.

One of a series of studio-based, monochrome studies of plants and flowers exploring the marvels of natural forms and textures, dramatically lit with a single light source. All of these images were exhibited in 1977 at the Photographers’ Gallery in London, where some visitors saw them as sexually suggestive, almost erotic in nature. For the first time, these images are being offered for sale to collectors.

The original photographs were taken during the 1970s using a Zanza Bronica 6x6cm camera and Ilford FR4 film. The negatives were recently scanned and are being printed by the photographer using Epson’s ultra-smooth, Hot Press Bright cotton rag archival 330gsm paper and utilising Epson’s printing technology and the associated K3 pigment inks. The prints have an extraordinary density of blacks, with good contrast, and hold even the finest detail. Each image is printed on an A2 sheet with white borders. The surface of these prints is delicate, so we recommend that they are mounted behind glass - they look splendid in a ‘floating frame’, using non-reflecting, gallery-type glass. Milan Svanderlik is a DIGI-Graphie Artist.

Limited edition, number 1/25; signed, numbered, dated, and titled on the back; and certified on the white border with the artist’s DigiGraphie embossing stamp.
