In his series Amazons, Bruno Fournier explores the most uninhibited and intimate aspects of movement, depicting naked women adorned with unexpected accessories. Hubcaps, hairdryers, ropes, loudspeakers, car doors, masks, balls... By cleverly re-employing these objects, he elevates the women's bodies to symbols of freedom. Photographed in black and white, Bruno Fournier's nudes evoke three themes which are dear to the photographer: humans' animality, violence and eroticism. In conflict with all that is coercive in today's world, these women assert themselves as female warriors, armed with these shields to claim their freedom to run, jump, shout! By externalising the inner force which resides in each woman, Bruno Fournier pays hommage to indomitable, feminine power.
