Lisa Bousfield is a Manchester born contemporary artist living in Ibiza. She has developed a distinctive black and white pop-art style, capturing the persona of leading personalities through her portrait work. Her technique is to sketch free hand, then fill in the areas with differing shades of black and white using acrylic gouache paint. Her original work is available on both paper and large scale canvas (with the largest original piece to date being 3m x 2m). All work is either original or available through a small run of limited edition prints. Lisa says “First of all I want the viewer to feel an instant familiarty, a connection, the love we hold for the celebrity. Then on another level, I hope the viewer will dissect the bigger picture and see it’s made up of shapes, symbolic of the celebrity personas; no one is solely black and white. Finally, I want them to get up close to the piece, to wonder ‘is it computer generated?’ only to realise it’s hand drawn. But ultimately, it is up to the viewer to interpret the piece.” To learn more about Lisa Bousfield read her interview in The Ibizan newspaper, issue 855, March 2017. http://theibizan.com/latest-issues/the-ibizan-855-march-2017/
